NACTOY Expands Board

Five new officers have been elected to lead the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year Awards (NACTOY) jury over the next two years.

Now in its 26th year, NACTOY is expanding its voluntary leadership team from three officers to five as part of a multi-pronged effort designed to keep pace with the increased needs of the organization.

The following officers were elected by a 50-person group of automotive journalists across North America who also serve as NACTOY jurors. The incoming officers, who will serve from 2020 to 2022, are:

  • Gary Witzenburg, President
  • Jack Nerad, Vice President
  • Gary Vasilash, Secretary
  • Jeff Gilbert, Treasurer
  • Karl Brauer, Membership Chair

NACTOY Names Finalists

The nine finalists that are vying for the title of 2020 North American Car of the Year, Utility of the Year and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) were announced at the LA Auto Show's AutoMobility LA, after they were selected from a competitive field of 29 semi-finalists.

The 2019 finalists for Car of the Year are the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Supra.

Nominees for  Utility Vehicle of the Year are the Hyundai Palisade, the Kia Telluride and the Lincoln Aviator.

Nominees for Truck of the Year are the Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator and RAM Heavy Duty.

The finalists were revealed after votes from 50 jurors were audited by Deloitte LLP, NACTOY’s accounting firm of record. The winners will be presented Jan. 13 at the TCF Center in Detroit in a partnership with the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and the North American International Auto Show.
