Introduced last year by Manheim, Lot Vision is a GPS-based wireless device that is placed in a vehicle’s on-board diagnostic port and reports its whereabouts on a Manheim lot within ten feet. Recently, the technology was enhanced to include vehicle tracking by VIN and work order number.

“Our lots are full right now, and dealers who are previewing vehicles tell us that Lot Vision is helping them find vehicles in minutes versus hours,” said Patrick Brennan, SVP, marketplace. “Our goal is to extend this technology to all locations and continue to make improvements to enhance our client’s experience.”

Dealers and transporters simply input a work order number or VIN and activate “Location Services” on a smart phone or tablet to pinpoint the vehicle’s exact location and path to find it. For vehicles without an on-board diagnostic port, trackers are attached to the steering wheel. In addition to making it easier to find vehicles, Lot Vision also speeds up vehicle processing for transporters.

Lot Vision is now in place at Manheim Atlanta, Manheim Georgia, Manheim Dallas, Manheim Dallas-Fort Worth, Manheim San Antonio, Manheim Orlando, Manheim Palm Beach, Manheim Tampa, Manheim Central Florida, Manheim St. Pete, Manheim Lakeland, Manheim Ft. Lauderdale, Manheim Ohio and Manheim Chicago, the latest location to be deployed this month.

Dealer clients are now implementing this solution at dealerships, as Lot Vision’s valued technology extends beyond Manheim lots. It is empowering dealers with the ability to track inventory on multiple lots and get vehicle status insights remotely when lot access is limited.  Other clients interested in this solution can work directly with Cox2M.

With most Manheim lots now open for clients to preview vehicles, the company is reminding dealers about it’s LotVision technology.

Linxup, which offers GPS tracking for small and medium-sized service businesses, announced it is an authorized Ford Data Services provider, integrating Ford vehicle data into its award-winning telematics software.

The integration allows fleets operating with participating Ford vehicles to access Linxup’s easy-to-use system for real-time location tracking and geofencing, speed and idling alerts, driver behavior reports, and maintenance tracking. Using Ford’s built-in vehicle modem eliminates the need to install additional wired or OBD hardware to access GPS data.

“We’re thrilled to announce Linxup as an authorized Ford Data Services provider. We believe customers should have the power of choice to get manufacturer-grade vehicle data from the provider of their choosing,” said Michelle Moody, director, Ford Commercial Solutions.

With over 43,000 customers tracking over 184,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment, Linxup fuels productivity and efficiency for fleet-based companies in over 40 industries. In the last year, Linxup’s customers have tracked 6.5 billion driving miles, created 564 million alerts for speeding, harsh braking, and geofenced locations, and identified $131 million in wasted fuel while idling.

Ituran Location and Control Ltd. saw subscribers grow in as it announced its consolidated financial results for the first quarter of 2020.

Highlights of the first quarter of 2020 included revenue of $68.4 million; EBITDA of $15.3 million; $10.7 million in quarterly operating cash flow; a net increase in aftermarket subscribers of 17,000 and total subscribers reached 1,794,000 at the end of the quarter.

“We are pleased with Ituran's first quarter performance with revenues and operating income ahead of those of the prior quarter, driven by continued subscriber growth in the aftermarket business,” said Eyal Sheratzky, Co-CEO of Ituran. “This is despite the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic and some currency headwinds. Due to the pandemic, in the second quarter we have seen a halt in new car sales globally, and therefore in new subscribers.”

The subscriber base amounted to 1,794,000 as of March 31, 2020. This represents an increase of 13,000 over that of the end of the prior quarter. During the quarter, Ituran added 17,000 aftermarket subscribers, while the OEM subscriber base declined by 4,000.
