A panel discussion featuring Virginia State Sen. Lamont Bagby and delegates Karrie Delaney and Scott Wyatt highlighted last month’s Virginia IADA annual conference in Richmond, Va.

The policymakers discussed the importance of being involved in a state association and making your voice heard.

Delaney, who chairs the House Transportation Committee, discussed a piece of legislation that came through her committee that will require recyclers, crushers and dismantlers to verify there is no recall on a vehicle before purchasing the vehicle.

“This is a significant win for our dealers and our industry, as we are already experiencing a tight inventory market and our lienholders have been losing vehicles to crushers across the country,” said NIADA CEO Jeff Martin. “I could not be more proud of the work Alvin [Melendez] and his team are doing in Virginia as the voice of independent dealers. The board and its members are all on the same page. It’s no wonder their membership continues to climb.”

Other education at the two-day event (April 26-27) included how to identify fraud, the economic advantage to turning inventory, BHPH basics and more.
