Everybody's Doing It Featured

My son will start college this fall and I'm sure that at some point, somebody who works for the college will tell him "Don't worry about finishing in four years. It takes a lot of people five years these days." Of course they say that. It's in their self-interest. But can you imagine if somebody went to a franchise store and said, "You'll probably trade this car in three years. Most people do." Yes, many people trade their new cars after three years, but that shouldn't be encouraged, especially when you are financing it for five years. Or longer. Again, behavior that would get a dealer in trouble is normal for others.
