Hyundai Motor America has agreed to pay a cash penalty of $54 million and other fines according to a consent order issued on Nov 23rd in N.J. by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to Reuters, the NHTSA found Hyundai America did not recall 1.6 million Sonata (’11-’14) and Santa Fe Sport (’13-’15) models in a “timely fashion”.  The NHTSA also found the company provided inaccurate information on the recalls.
