Auction Names New GM

America’s Auto Auction has named Sarah Ruzicka as the general manager at its West Michigan auction location.

Ruzicka follows the long tenure of industry veteran Carl Miskotten who originally purchased the facility in 1997 and subsequently sold to America’s Auto Auction 2017, staying on to lead the auction team as General Manager.

Ruzicka’s promotion was announced during the auction’s regular weekly sale on October 30.  Miskotten continues with the company in an advisory position at West Michigan and as General Manager at America’s Auto Auction Interstate 94 in Parma, Michigan.

“It’s a tremendously exciting step for me to take the reins as the general manager at West Michigan,” said Ruzicka. “I love working for a company that truly cares about its customers and employees. Starting with my parents, who instilled in me a work ethic that has served me well, I have been privileged to work with Tammy Swofford and Brian Thomas at the home office, and Carl Miskotten who has mentored me over the years.”

Ruzicka began her career in the auction industry in 2006 as a receptionist at Flint Auto Auction, quickly moving up into the main office and eventually running the Chrysler Marshalling Department. In 2011, she arrived at West Michigan Auto Auction, which was owned by Miskotten at the time, working as a sales representative.  She was named the auction’s sales manager in 2015 and promoted to the post of assistant general manager in early 2019.

“Since acquiring the West Michigan facility in 2017, America’s Auto Auction leadership has held Sarah in very high regard,” said Brian Thomas, senior vice president at America’s Auto Auction.  “As Sarah takes over leadership of that team, we’re excited to see her take the auction to the next level.”
