The New Bait and Switch Sandwich Featured

Several fast food chains have been enticing eaters with limited-time offers lately and I decided to live it up by trying a few of them. I’m now thinking about contacting the FTC and complaining about bait-and-switch marketing.

First, I went to Jimmy John’s to try the Frenchie. It’s basically an Italian deli sandwich on a baguette with butter instead of another fat. It’s a good sandwich, but when I ordered it, I was at first informed the shop might not be able to make it for me. They did manage to produce the meal, but it was obvious staff would have preferred not to. I imagine the extra effort isn’t worth the reward for them.

Next came the only problem-free experience – McDonald’s international promotion. These are sandwiches and sides available in other countries but not normally in  the U.S. This time I ordered the Canadian tomato mozzarella chicken sandwich. “No problem,” the McWorker told me. I soon had a hot and tasty sandwich.

Finally, we come to the total disaster – Burger King’s French toast breakfast sandwich. I can’t report on the quality of this one, because by 9 a.m. they were out of the ingredients. I ordered something else, falling right into the classic trap of coming in for one thing and leaving with another.

If a dealership did that, it would be a race between the local Action News, the state AG and several trial attorneys to see who can get at them first.
