Paying Retail Featured

More shops closed in the first quarter of this year than in all of 2018. That number might mean something other than what it seems, but there is no way to argue against the idea that the retail landscape is changing. You're even starting to see it in car sales, as Carvana continues to grow and CarMax invests to keep up with its new competitor. What does this mean for workers? Technically, retail sector jobs are as plentiful as ever, but that is a number without context. These are jobs at warehouses, not shops. Tony Moorby recently wrote about working at a London department store during the Swinging '60s. He referenced the classic Britcom "Are You Being Served?" These were white collar working-class jobs. Working at an Amazon fulfillment center is, well, less fulfilling.
