Average wholesale values fell modestly and in line with typical seasonal patterns in August.
According to ADESA Analytical Services’ monthly analysis of Wholesale Used Vehicle Prices by Vehicle Model Class, wholesale used vehicle prices in August averaged $10,738 – down 0.6 percent compared to July but up 4.6 percent relative to August 2015.
Once again, cars were down on a year-over-year basis (1.3 percent), while trucks were up significantly (7.3 percent), which led to the overall year-over-year increase.
Average wholesale prices for used vehicles remarketed by manufacturers were down 0.4 percent month-over-month but up 5.6 percent year-over-year. Prices for fleet/lease consignors were up 0.5 percent sequentially and up 1.1 percent annually. Dealer consignors registered a 1.9 percent average price decrease versus July but a 4.9 percent increase relative to August 2015.
