Dealer Fails to Pay Sales Tax Featured

Biel Semexant Jr., owner of Auction Access USA, doing business as Access 2 Auctions, has been arrested on charges that he stole more than $50,000 in sales tax he collected from customers but failed to send to the Florida Department of Revenue.   Semexant was arrested on felony charges relating to theft of state funds.  If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, as well as possible repayment of stolen tax, interest, penalty and investigative costs.  Access 2 Auctions, now closed, most recently operated at 4757 SW 51st Street in Davie. Prior to that it operated at 2430 North Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors.   According to department investigators, Semexant collected sales tax from customers at his car lot.  However, during various periods from April 2012 through December 2013, he failed to send to the state all of the sales taxes he had collected from his customers.  Under state law, sales tax is the property of the state at the moment of collection.
