The employment situation keeps improving, but consumers are unsure of how long this can continue.

Private sector employment increased by 227,000 jobs from September to October according to the October ADP National Employment Report.

Meanwhile, the Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index increased again in October, following a modest improvement in September. The index now stands at 137.9, up from 135.3 in September.

Those claiming jobs are “plentiful” increased to 45.9 percent from 44.1 percent, while those claiming jobs are “hard to get” decreased to 13.2 percent from 14.1 percent.
Consumers’ outlook for the labor market was somewhat mixed.

The proportion expecting more jobs in the months ahead decreased to 21.9 percent from 22.1 percent, but those anticipating fewer jobs also decreased, to 10.5 percent from 11.4 percent.
