NAAA Auctions Sell More Than $100 Billion of Vehicles

Sales of used vehicles totaled 10 million units worth $105.6 billion at National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) member auctions last year, according to the trade organization's 21st annual survey.

The survey found that the number of vehicles entering the auctions decreased by 2.4 percent to 17.3 million and the number of units sold was up 2.5 percent.

Dealer consignment vehicles represented the largest number of units sold at 50.3 percent, fleet-lease and repo were at 43.4 percent, followed by factory vehicles at 5.5 percent. Vehicles from other sources made up 0.8 percent.

The average NAAA auction member operates an eight-lane facility on 78 acres, employs 137 people with a payroll of $4.5 million, and contributes $14,500 annually to charity.
