Inspectors Find No Records at Vacant Property

By Staff Writer July 29, 2019

The Michigan Department of State has suspended the business license of a Flint vehicle dealer for noncompliance with the law.

FYI Auto LLC, owned by Ira Chapman and Finis Harwell, was cited July 19 for failing to produce dealership records for inspection. A state regulatory agent found the property chained and locked, and the building vacant.

A summary suspension was issued July 22. Chapman and Harwell will have to provide state regulatory staff with all dealership records on file back to July 23, 2014, before the summary suspension can be lifted.

State law requires vehicle dealers to keep dealership records on file for five years.
