Money In Politics

While I was watching Jeopardy a few nights ago, I must have seen six political ads in a row. Many people worry about the effect of money on politics, with various interests buying candidates. That's a problem, but what bothers me is the money wasted on the losers. One of the ads was for our next governor, but another was a guy who has no chance to be governor. I know you're not supposed to say that after 2016, but it's true. Both ads cost the same amount and both jacked up the cost for other local ad buyers, such as auto dealers.

When he spoke at the NAAA convention a few years ago, James Carville said a campaign boiled down to spending a huge amount of money in a short amount of time. You know many bad decisions are made in that time. The capital destruction is astounding. If you're going to make the case for campaign finance reform, this is it.
