Recall Program Marks Anniversary Featured

April marks the one-year anniversary of the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) initiative to increase recall completions.

Through the program, vehicle safety recall information is printed on registration renewal notices, which are sent via mail and email about 60 days before a registration period ends. The information is provided as a courtesy.

An open recall does not affect the ability of a customer to renew their vehicle registration.

The two-year pilot initiative is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Through its experience, MDOT MVA has become a trusted resource and is lending advice and guidance to other organizations interested in implementing similar programs.

To obtain vehicle recall information, MDOT MVA partnered with Cox Automotive Inc.
